Roberta: My question is about transition. Is there any precedence for extending time in special education after age 22? Procedures for Transition and 688 referral were not followed and my child has not benefited from transitional services or adequate planning. She turns 22 February 11 ,2017. I would like to ask for mediation . We have looked at 3 adult day programs that do not meet her needs. Help !!
There are some cases where a court or hearing officer has ordered the school to provide services past 22. Your state parent training & information center should be able to give you some advice on how to deal with your situation. http://www.parentcenterhub.org/find-your-center
