Re-Evaluations: TOO SOON FOR RE-EVALUATION?

Kristin:  I am a resource teacher in a Catholic school. One of our students was evaluated by the local district earlier this year but was only found to have a disability in the area of math calculation. Despite numerous interventions/accommodations, he is failing all of his classes and his teacher and I feel he has more than just a math disability. Can I request a reevaluation? Or is it too early?

  1. Different states may have differing policies, so I can only speak to my state of Wisconsin. Here, students can be referred for a re-evaluation at any time. However; if the re-evaluation is to occur less than one year from the previous evaluation written parent permission is needed,
