Beth:  Does updating 504 plans require a parent to sign off on the plan -in writing?
How often can the district ask for a medical diagnosis from the parents?

  1. I have the same question. My son had had a medical diagnosis on file with our school for 3 years. They are now asking me to update his medical. I seriously do not get this. ASD, ADHD, and SPD are not thing that just magically go away.

  2. Beth – The Rehabilitation Act does not require a parent to sign a 504 plan. The law does not require that a 504 plan be written. However, many or most schools do have written plans.
Your second question was “how often can the district ask for a medical diagnosis from the parents?” Does this mean you provided your child’s medical diagnosis previously? Or did his diagnosis change? I’m a little confused by that question.
