Silvia: When considering a change of placement for a student already in special education, are new assessments required?
I’m interested in why the school wants to change the child’s placement and what the change of placement will involve. Is the proposed placement more or less restrictive? Will the child get more services or fewer services in the proposed placement?
No, but the team could decide that one is needed. The parent could request one, &/or ask for an independent educational evaluation (IEE).
