Aimee: My son has been riding the bus since he was 5. He has become verbally aggressive towards the driver and aid, and sadly with the other students. He has a current FBA,FA and bus service has had training. Can I request for a private bus so he can get to school safety and not hurting others.
I commend you on so many levels. You care deeply for the safety of other students and staff while strongly advocating for your son who needs to attend school. There is a point that a school must look at the data, behaviors, medical needs and safety of your child as well as the others students and staff to make sound decisions. I know of students who had private cabs, at the school’s expense, etc. Depending on the IEP, data, etc,. is outplacement an option for your school? I can tell from your question that you are working closely and successfully with the school and that should go a long way.
