Teresa:  Parent concerned related services ST/OT/PT are being reduced stating that child has not made any progress in these areas, therefore all therapies will be reduce to half of the time allotted last school year. If no progress is made how can services be reduced?

  1. What if nothing works after having a BIP and the school just expelled student from the only alternative program available?

    • If the school is expelling your child because of behaviors related to his/ her disability, they still must provide an education. Ask the school for home based services.

      • Sally the student has to have an evaluation done before homebound can be considered but if he keeps being suspended then obviously its impacting his education. It also depends on what the state say about homebound

  2. The parent should not agree to this without consulting some outside sources. The school should be providing a way for the student to meet the goals not dummy them down so that the school can provide FAPE. Once the parent refuses this change the school needs to come up with another plan or provide a prior written notice document stating why they want to reduce services. I agree with you. THis is not the solution.
