Milo: What specific psychological test standardized scores must be below average for eligibility for ADA extra test-taking accommodations for the College Board. My child is gifted with ADHD inattentive type & OCD. He was denied accommodations by the College Board but we are appealing?
1. What specific psychological test standardized scores must be below average (i.e.,< 86 standard score) for eligibility for ADA “learning-related” extra test-taking time accommodations for the College Board exams?
2. My 11th grade child is gifted with diagnosed/treated ADHD inattentive type but he was denied accommodations by the College Board because the WJ-Tests of Acheivement Reading, Writing and Math Fluency subtest scores were above 85 standard scores.
3. We are appealing as he found he also has severe OCD but still scores above 85 standard score on the same WJ-Fluency subtests?

The College Board has a lot of information on their website regarding the information and documentation needed for specific disabilities and accommodations (start here: https://www.collegeboard.org/students-with-disabilities).
Your child’s school should be helping you with this process. It’s likely the guidance counselor will have some experience with this process. If your child has an IEP, you can have this assistance documented in his IEP or Transition Plan.
If the school is no help, you may try your state’s vocation rehabilitation agency (http://www.fda.gov/downloads/AboutFDA/WorkingatFDA/UCM277757.pdf). They likely have experience helping college students navigate this process, and your child should begin connecting with them anyway.
