Glenn:  If a student refuses a 504 accommodation in the classroom, can that student still have access to that accommodation during state testing? Thank you

Can a student receive “read aloud” accommodation if ADHD is the only identified impairment on the IAP? Thank you

  1. If a student has had the accommodation of having material read aloud to them throughout the year, then can the same accommodation be applied during state testing?

    • Possibly. This would depend on what the state decides are allowable accommodations for the state test. The state website should list allowable accommodations.

    • If it is on his 504, he should be all set, you can have that accommodation just for testing and that student may not need to access it all the time, its based on when he needs it from my understanding

  2. Under the new law only students with an actual documented reading disability can get a tutor to help with reading the tests out loud however there is computer software that a school can purchase that can provide reading for testing or other issues. If your child needs this he/she may have a reading disability. You may request a reading/writing evaluation in writing and sign the school’s consent form so that the 60 day timeframe starts for them to complete the testing.

    • Hello, Sharon L.

thank you for the answer to my second question.

my first question was: If a student refuses a 504 accommodation in the classroom, can that student still have access to that accommodation during state testing?

do you have any thoughts on this one?

      thank you
