IDEA 2004 & NCLB: What You Don't Know CAN Hurt You!
(one day, 6 hours) focuses on changes in IDEA
2004, the interrelationships between
IDEA 2004 and No Child
Left Behind, and how to use these laws to get better special education services
for children with disabilities. You
will learn about: - new
requirements for evaluations, reevaluations, parental consent
- new
requirements for IEPs, IEP teams, IEP meetings
- new
eligibility requirements for students with specific learning disabilities
- requirements
for accommodations on high stakes tests, accommodations guidelines, alternate
assessments
- new
rules about discipline and manifestation reviews
- new
procedural requirements and timelines, including the “Due Process Complaint Notice”
and “Resolution (IEP) Session”
- requirements
for reading programs, essential components of reading instruction, research based
instruction
- requirements
for highly qualified teachers and paraprofessionals

stakes tests, accommodations, alternate assessments

options and choices for children who attend struggling schools

Directions to Bethany College, Pendleton Street,
Bethany, WV 26032 From the North
Pittsburgh, Rochester, Western New York: Take I-79 to exit #54 (Bridgeville).
At end of ramp turn left onto Route 50 West. Continue on Route 50 through these
towns in PA: Cecil, Hickory and Avella. (In Avella pay attention to Route 50 West
signs) At end of Route 50, turn right onto Route 844 West. As you cross the border
into West Virginia (Route 27) turn left at Highland Springs Golf Course, Route
88 South. Travel 5 miles until you reach intersection of Route 88 and Route 67.
Turn left and proceed one-half mile into the town of Bethany and the Bethany College
campus entrance. From the South: Make connection with I-75 North to Cincinnati.
Take I-71 to Columbus, OH. Follow I-70 East to Wheeling, WV. Proceed through the
Wheeling Tunnel. Take exit #2A (Oglebay Park - Bethany College - West Liberty
SC). Proceed to second traffic light and turn left, taking Route 88 North. Travel
approximately 14 miles to intersection of Route 67. Turn right and proceed one-half
mile into the town of Bethany and the Bethany College campus entrance.
From the East Baltimore, Washington DC area: Take I-70 West to I-68
West to Morgantown, WV. Connect with I-79 North through Morgantown, WV. Continue
on I-79 to I-70 at Washington, PA. On I-70 West take exit #17 (Jefferson Avenue).
Turn right at end of ramp. Proceed two lights and turn right on Route 18 North.
Turn left at next light, onto Route 844 West. Go approximately 18 miles on Route
844. As you cross the border into West Virginia (Route 27) turn left at Highland
Springs Golf Course, Route 88 South. Travel 5 miles until you reach intersection
of Route 88 and Route 67. Turn left and proceed one-half mile into the town of
Bethany and the Bethany College campus entrance. Harrisburg, Philadelphia,
New York, New England: Make connections with Pennsylvania Turnpike and travel
West to exit #75 (New Stanton) The toll will be $6.45. Follow I-70 West to Washington,
PA and get off at exit #17 (Jefferson Avenue). Turn right at end of ramp. Proceed
two lights and turn right on Route 18 North. Turn left at next light, onto Route
844 West. Go approximately 18 miles on Route 844. As you cross the border into

67. Turn right and proceed one-half mile into the town of Bethany and the Bethany
College campus entrance. Cleveland, Youngstown, Chicago: Make connections
with Ohio Turnpike East . Take exit #15 (Niles-Youngstown). Continue on I-80 East
to exit #224A. Follow signs for Route 11 South, Canfield-East Liverpool, OH. From
East Liverpool take Route 7 South to the Veteran's Memorial Bridge in Steubenville,
OH and cross the Ohio River. Proceed on Route 2 South (follow signs for Wheeling
& Follansbee). Go to the south side of Wellsburg, WV and at the last traffic
light - out of town - turn left onto Route 67 East. Travel 6 miles on Route 67
to the town of Bethany and the Bethany College campus entrance.
