From Emotions to Advocacy Cruise II
January 15-19, 2003

Fantasy Cruise ShipDo you want to learn more about special education law and advocacy? Do you want to network with others who share your interests? Do you want to have fun in the sun?

Join Pete and Pam Wright on the From Emotions to Advocacy Cruise II - A Very Special Cruise Seminar and Fund-Raiser for Special Education.

On Wednesday, January 15, 2003, Pete and Pam Wright will conduct a full day of special ed legal and advocacy training at the Radisson Resort Hotel in Port Canaveral. The seminar will focus on four areas: special education law, rights and responsibilities; tests and measurements to measure progress & regression; SMART IEPs; and tactics & strategies for effective advocacy.

This program has been approved for 7 CLE credits.

On Thursday, participants will board Carnival Cruise Lines' "Fantasy" for a three-day cruise to the Bahamas. The ship will leave Port Canaveral, Florida on Thursday, January 16 and return on Sunday, January 19, 2003.

Cruise Options

Thanks to cruise organizer Geri Brown, there are two options: the Complete Program Package and the Cruise Only Package.

Resort Hotel Radisson in Port CanaveralThe Complete Program Package includes the full day advocacy training program with Pete and Pam Wright, two nights accommodations at the Radisson Resort Hotel, transfer from the Radisson to the pier, the 3-day cruise with all amenities including meals, entertainment, and shipboard activities, and transfer from the pier to the Orlando Airport on Sunday, January 19, 2003.

The Cruise Only Package includes the 3-day cruise with amenities including entertainment, meals, and shipboard activities. Cruise-only folks are eligible for a special rate at the Radisson Resort Hotel on Wednesday, January 15, the night before the cruise and can purchase transfers to the airport for $15. per person

The From Emotions to Advocacy Cruise and Fund Raiser is being sponsored by ValueVoyager in partnership with Carnival Cruise Lines.

Fund Raiser

This year's fund-raiser will benefit a Minnesota class action lawsuit that seeks compliance with the IDEA and FAPE for Minnesota's special education students.

Attorneys Sonja Kerr (Kerrlaw) and Judith Gran (Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia) are handling the class action suit. Sonja and Judith will be featured guests on the cruise, along with Pete and Pam Wright of Wrightslaw.
