Print this page

Smart Kids Award winners will be honored at a Smart Kids with Learning Disabilities’ cocktail reception and dinner at the Stamford Marriott on Thursday, June 15, 2006.

Peter and Pamela Wright, who together created the Wrightslaw special education website, will receive the 2006 Smart Kids Community Service Award. Mr. Wright is a nationally renowned attorney with dyslexia who has represented hundreds of children with disabilities.

Mark Griffin, Ph.D. and Rayma Griffin, M.Ed., the headmaster and director of Admissions and Placement, respectively, of Eagle Hill School in Greenwich, CT, will receive the 2006 Smart Kids Professional Achievement Award.

David Neeleman of New Canaan, CT — CEO of JetBlue Airways and Smart Kids’ Honorary chairman — will present the third annual Smart Kids Youth Achievement Award to Walter Joseph Kasura II of Glenwood, MD, for accomplishments in the science and practice of firefighting and for contributions to his local fire station.

The event, beginning at 6:30 pm, includes a “Chinese auction” plus a silent auction featuring a week’s stay at a private 4-bedroom vacation home on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe. For information and tickets, please go to the Smart Kids with LD site or call (203) 226-6831 or (203) 454-4070.
