Navigating IDEA 2004 Through Wrightslaw

Program Description

You will learn about IDEA 2004, including new legal requirements for initial evaluations and reevaluations, parental consent, IEP goals, IEP teams, and how eligibility requirements changed for students with specific learning disabilities.

You will learn about new procedural requirements and timelines, including the “Due Process Complaint Notice” and “Resolution (IEP) Session.”

You will also learn about NCLB requirements relating to research based instruction, highly qualified teachers, new options for students who attend struggling schools, how NCLB applies to children with disabilities. Download registration form.

Your registration fee includes two books, Wrightslaw: IDEA 2004 and Wrightslaw: From Emotions to Advocacy (Retail Value: $35.), morning goodies, lunch, afternoon snack, and certificate of attendance.

You will also receive a complimentary copy of 10 Tips: How to Use IDEA 2004 to Improve Education for Children with Disabilities by parent attorney Wayne Steedman, Esq.

Fees: $65. per person; $80.00 per couple*.

*One set of books per couple. A couple is defined as both individuals living at the same address.

Logistics, Directions, Accommodations

Registration will be in the Main Auditorium Foyer of the Church.

Lunch is provided as part of your registration fee. If you wish to get lunch on you own, you will find several restaurants on State Road 70 on the left and right side of the road ¼ to 1 ½ mile from the Church, including:

Bob Evans Restaurant, Chick-Fa-La, Applebee's, Subway, McDonalds, DiArtino's, Rib Crib, Gecko's, Crispers and Arby's.

Free parking is available at the conference location.

Directions

From Interstate I-75 (North or South Bound) take Exit #217, State Road 70, East. Go to the second Stoplight and Turn Left onto the Church Campus. Parking is available on all sides of the church building.

Sarasota/Bradenton Airport (SRQ) is approximately 15 miles from the conference location.
