They want you to sell your rights for $1 before you figure out the value of the cards you hold. They must be afraid you have more rights than you know about and are afraid you will use them. Instead of signing the waiver, call the disability rights organization in your state, or another education attorney, and describe the situation in more detail. This is definitely a red flag that something fishy is going on. No one ever needs to sign (3 no less! ) waivers in order to get the diploma that they have earned. Hi Sue- we have a letter that states that our son has the required credits and courses needed to receive his wanted diploma. the district is saying that we need to sign 3 waivers to release the district of their responsibity under idea and that we wont take them to due process for anything ( for the sum of $1).. what is that all about?/ K
