Combined with their individual stories, their presentations educate, teach self-advocacy, and inspire anyone who is privileged to hear them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.authorstream.com\/Presentation\/thetruecrew-1405072-anthony-powerpoint-ii\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin-left: 3px; margin-right: 3px; float: left;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wrightslaw.com\/nltr\/img\/video_icon.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"18\" height=\"17\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><a style=\"color: #0066cc;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.authorstream.com\/Presentation\/thetruecrew-1405072-anthony-powerpoint-ii\/\">Who is Anthony? <\/a>&#8211; <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.authorstream.com\/Presentation\/thetruecrew-1405072-anthony-powerpoint-ii\/\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">View Anthony&#8217;s presentation<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Anthony is part of an extraordinary group of youth, elementary school age through college age, who serve as Youth Ambassadors of the International Dyslexia Association &#8211; <span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><a style=\"color: #0066cc;\" href=\"http:\/\/idarmb.org\/\">Rocky Mountain Branch<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Student ambassadors train other students how to self-advocate in the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>They teach students how to create a PowerPoint presentation to give to their teachers at the beginning of each school year. They highlight their talents, strengths, weaknesses, and disability.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.authorstream.com\/Presentation\/thetruecrew-1405072-anthony-powerpoint-ii\/\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">http:\/\/www.authorstream.com\/Presentation\/thetruecrew-1405072-anthony-powerpoint-ii\/<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.interdys.org\/RMBAmbassadors.htm\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin-left: 5px; margin-right: 5px; float: right;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wrightslaw.com\/blog\/images\/RMAmbassadors.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"198\" height=\"133\" \/><\/a>This amazing group of young people has allowed\u00a0these students the opportunity to gain self esteem and confidence while helping other youth, along with their parents and teachers, gain a better insight into the lives of those living with learning disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>The group was initially formed as a creative way to present information about dyslexia and its impact\u00a0during the IDA-RMB Annual Dyslexia Awareness Month.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What started as an idea\u00a0for engaging parents and educators\u00a0has morphed into a\u00a0remarkable experience for these dedicated young students and the audiences who hear them speak!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Update on Youth Ambassadors&#8230;now<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/idarmb.org\/yes\/\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><strong>YES! Youth Examples of Self-Advocacy<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">&#8220;Originally started by Lissa True at our very own Rocky Mountain Branch, and now run by the national non-profit company, Learning Ally, we are very proud of the <a href=\"http:\/\/idarmb.org\/yes\/\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">Youth Examples of Self-Advocacy<\/span><\/a>! The purpose of this youth program is to train students with learning differences to recognize their strengths and weaknesses, to help them build confidence and to provide them with the tools to become strong self-advocates.
