Most do not speak. Some do not move. They don\u2019t read or write. They cannot type.<\/p>\n<p>I have been told I can basically ignore the legal curriculum and base their \u201cmodified\u201dgrades in computers strictly on IEP goals, such as \u201cstudent attempts task, remains calm during instructions, directs gaze.\u201d In other words, they don\u2019t have to do anything on the computer.<\/p>\n<p>The district special ed department tells me that the state of California would consider this a \u201cmodification\u201d of the computer curriculum, even though they are throwing out the curriculum (Microsoft Excel, typing, etc.) completely.
