Use facts and information to support your requests. Review your information and check your facts for accuracy.<\/p>\n<p>2. Ask questions. Lots and lots of questions.<\/p>\n<p>Advocates are not afraid to ask questions. When they ask questions, they listen carefully to answers. Advocates know how to use 5 Ws + H + E questions to discover the true reasons for positions the school staff takes.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ask questions<\/li>\n<li>Listen<\/li>\n<li>Do not interrupt<\/li>\n<li>Paraphrase their points<\/li>\n<li>Show that you appreciate their knowledge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Let me make sure I understand. I think I heard you say&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">5 W\u2019s + H + E Questions<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Use questions to raise issues.
