Jeremy:  We have a high school student who is on an IEP. Last year the school did not provide the accommodations listed in the IEP, and our son failed all of his classes and received no credits for graduation as a result of the lack of accommodations. We filed a compliant with the state IDEA, and they also found the school was non compliant. As part of the corrective actions, the school must create a graduation plan and submit this plan and meeting records to the state. I don’t want to attend this meeting without any ideas, or references. (previous cases or examples would be ideal). I can’t seem to find any.

  1. Agree with Chuck. Another option is to contact your state Protection & Advocacy office (sometimes called Disability Rights). There is at least one P & A office in every state – they help people resolve legal problems related to disabilities. The website for your state should be listed here: http://www.ndrn.org/index.php

There may be other special ed legal agencies or clinics in your state that can help with this problem. Special ed legal clinics are often affiliated with law schools.

Check the resources for your state on the Wrightslaw Yellow Pages for Kids at http://www.yellowpagesforkids.com
