On Friday, August 4, Pete and Pam Wright will present a Wrightslaw Special Education Law and Advocacy Training program at the Shelby Campus, University of Louisville, Louisville, KY.

The program is sponsored by by KY-SPIN and FIND of Louisville.
Program Overview

This six hour special education law and advocacy program focuses on four areas:

  • Special education law, rights and responsibilities
  • Tests and measurements to measure progress & regression
  • SMART IEPs
  • Introduction to tactics & strategies for effective advocacy

Online Training: Tests & Measurements & the Bell Curve (July 24 & July 25)
The next beta sessions for the online training programs on Tests & Measurements and the Bell Curve will be held on Monday, July 24, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am EDT and Tuesday, July 25, from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm EDT.

Objectives
* Participants will learn about standard scores, subtest scores, percentile ranks, and standard deviations.
* Participants will learn how to draw the bell curve and plot scores on a graph.
* Participants will learn how to use the Microsoft Chart Wizard to make "progress graphs."

Materials
* The required text is Wrightslaw: From Emotions to Advocacy (1st or 2nd edition). Pete will refer to specific pages in the book during the presentation.
* Blank 8.5" x 11" sheets of paper
* Pencil

After you complete this course, you will be able to read a psycho-educational evaluation, understand the test data, and be able to plot test scores on a graph.
