WRIGHTSLAW TRAINING PROGRAMS This text file will provide you an overview of Wrightslaw special education law and advocacy training programs. OUR GOAL Our goal is for parents to have the knowledge and skills to advocate for their children with disabilities. Parents must have a global plan for their child. They must learn how to manage their emotions. They must also learn how to use facts to present their child's case to school officials. In too many cases, parents are knowledgeable in one area (such as the law), but have not learned the skills to advocate for their child. INFORMATION PAGE For information about fees, agendas, publicity, and other information, please read "Wrightslaw Training Programs / Seminars/ Conferences" at: https://www.wrightslaw.com/speak/schedule.htm SPEAKERS & FEES At present, we provide one- day Special Education Law and Advocacy and one-day From Emotions to Advocacy. * One Day (6 hours) Program https://www.wrightslaw.com/speak/programs.htm By Pete Wright: $6,000 plus expenses By Attorney Wayne Steedman ($5000) & Advocate Pat Howey: $2000) plus expenses The one-day (6 hour) program is a good way to educate a large group and may also lead to interest in a more intensive program later. KEYNOTES & CONFERENCES We do keynote addresses and/or sessions at state and national conferences. This approach is difficult if time constraints force us to abbreviate important topics and/or eliminate others altogether. If you want us to present at a state or national conference, please consider a one-day pre-conference symposium or a one-day program as part of the conference. PRIVATE TRAINING We do intensive training programs for groups, private schools / agencies, and advocacy groups that are "closed to the public." We do not post specifics about these events on the schedule page. ORGANIZING & PROMOTING A PROGRAM In the "conf" subdirectory, you will find information that you can use to develop and promote your program. Some organizers have held programs in hospitals, public schools, universities. One program was held in a state mental health facility (at no fee).
